our story
I'm Kyla, the founder of Cotton Lane and a mom of two little girls
This brand began in the quiet, everyday moments of motherhood. I created the very first Cuddle Book for my own children, simply wanting a way for them to explore family photos safely and independently. What I didn’t expect was just how meaningful it would become for our family — the way they would flip through the pages, recognize familiar faces, and return to it again and again for comfort and connection.
Curious, I began researching and discovered that when young children can explore family photos on their own, it supports emotional regulation, strengthens their sense of security, and encourages early language and cognitive development. What started as something simple quickly became something much deeper.
In the beginning, I sewed each book myself — slowly, carefully, often during nap times and late evenings. I saved up to purchase my first embroidery machine, and with the support of my husband, transformed a small closet in our home into a sewing space. That’s where Cotton Lane began.
From the start, I knew I didn’t want to create more “stuff” — I wanted to create pieces that truly mattered. I believe in making products with intention, ones that are tried and tested in our own home and designed to be used, loved, and passed down through generations. Family traditions and meaningful moments mean everything to me, and that belief is woven into every piece we create.
A few years later, it’s still surreal to see Cuddle Books and Advent Calendars finding their way into homes all over the world. Knowing that Cotton Lane has become part of your family traditions and special moments means more to me than I can put into words.
Thank you so much for being here.

Founder of Cotton Lane

Every Cotton Lane piece begins at home.
Designed in Vancouver and first brought to life for my own little girls, each product is rooted in the quiet, meaningful moments of family life.
As the brand grew, I was fortunate to form a deeply personal partnership in Türkiye— one of the world’s most renowned textile regions. It was one of those rare, serendipitous connections that simply felt meant to be.
Cotton Lane is incredibly personal to me, and I would never entrust production to anyone I didn’t know and trust wholeheartedly. The artisans we work with are among the most skilled I have ever come across, bringing an extraordinary level of care and detail to every piece — often beyond what I could have imagined myself.
Each item is made with intention, by hands that are respected and valued. Every artisan is paid a fair, living wage and treated with genuine respect and gratitude for their craft.
From design to production, safety to ethics, this is something you can truly feel good about bringing into your home.
