Cuddle Book Feelings Flash Cards
Our printable Feelings Flash Cards are designed to help little ones recognize and talk about different emotions—an important skill for understanding their own feelings and responding with empathy to others.
Here’s how you can use them with your child:
- Start simple – Show your child a flash card and ask, “How do you feel today?” to encourage self-awareness.
- Talk about others – Point to a photo on a card and ask, “How do you think that little boy feels?” or “What might have happened to make her feel that way?”
- Match emotions – Have your child find another card with the same feeling, or ask them to make a face that matches the card.
- Tell a story – Use a card as the starting point for a short story about why someone might feel happy, sad, surprised, or proud.
- Practice empathy – After identifying a feeling, ask, “What could we do to help someone who feels this way?”
By practicing with these cards regularly, you’ll help your child build emotional vocabulary, recognize emotions in themselves and others, and develop the early seeds of empathy.
